Online Application for Undergraduate Programs

The application process is your opportunity to introduce yourself by reflecting upon past successes and failures, and looking into your future by explaining how an undergraduate degree fits into your personal and professional goals. It gives us the opportunity to evaluate your potential for success both in the program and after graduation by looking at all of your achievements, both academic and personal, and evaluate your application the context of your own educational circumstances.

You have the ability to upload unofficial documents. Prior to admission we require official copies. Once your application fee of CHF 150 is received, the Admissions Committee will review your candidacy for admission to The Basel School.

Curriculum Vitae

A short CV including what studies you have undertaken and any relevant extra-curricular activities you may have participated in.

Academic transcripts

All applicants must hold a secondary school diploma (Matura, IB, Abitur, Baccalauréat, or equivalent) at the time of enrollment. Please provide academic transcripts which reflect your grades for the prior 2 years. 

You may submit unofficial copies with your application; however, we require official transcripts if you are accepted for study. Foreign credentials in a language other than English, German or French must be officially translated into English. Applicants currently enrolled in the final year of their high school program may apply but official transcripts which reflect successful completion of the diploma will be required for full admission.

English Language Proficiency

Applicants whose native language is not English should submit proof of English language proficiency. This requirement can be waived for applicants who have successfully completed at least three academic years in high school, or one academic year of university-level coursework, in English.

The minimum requirements for admission are:

  • TOEFL - 550
  • TOEFL iBT – 80
  • IELTS - 6.0

Standardized Test Scores 

You may choose to submit SAT or ACT scores if you wish to supplement your application. If you choose to submit your scores, they must be less than five years old. Scores older than that are older than five years are not considered valid and will not be accepted. You may upload an unofficial copy with your application; however, we require official transcripts if you are accepted for study.

Application Essay

The application essay is your opportunity to tell us why you believe The Basel School of Business is a good fit for you and how your experiences have prepared you for this educational commitment.

Describe an instance in your life when you felt that you had a positive impact on your family, friends, or community. 

The essay should be a maximum of 1,000 words.

Contact Information for Two References

Please provide contact information for two references who can attest to your skills and character. At least one reference must be someone who can evaluate your academic potential, such as a current or former teacher. The second reference may come from someone like a coach, minister, troop leader, or boss -- anyone who can add new and valuable insights to your application.

Please provide the references’ full names and email addresses. They will receive an email with a link to an online form. They can also email, fax or mail their recommendations directly to the admissions office.
